Description: This is an overview or informational document on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. In this document we will provide a brief look into Jelly Bean and some of the features.

4. The apps drawer, with a few custom apps installed. On this first page is the Currents app, a news application that will be detailed after the Google app. The Google app is not just another way to get to Google Search, instead it brings up the Google Now app.
   
   
   
   
5. Google Now utilizes what are called Cards to provide for you various information, including (in this example) the weather. The app is intended to watch, for example, when you leave for work and give you an estimate on travel time - automatically. Also, if you are travelling it may give you updates on traffic or flight delays based on recent searches, navigation or heading. It will also give you sports scores and updates based on teams that you follow.

Tech Tip of the Day: How to change Mouse Settings in Windows 7

Description: This article will detail how to change common settings for how the mouse interacts with Windows and installed programs. This is useful for changing how fast the cursor moves in response to mouse movement, changing scroll speed, and changing how fast two clicks on the mouse need to be in order to be recognized as a double-click.

1. Click the Start Menu in the lower left corner of the Screen.
2. Click Control Panel
   
   


3. In the upper right corner of Control Panel, if View By: is set to Category, click the drop down arrow next to Category, then select Large Icons.
   
   


4. Scroll down and click on Mouse.
   
   


5. The Mouse Properties window will open. To change how fast the cursor moves in response to movement of the mouse, select the Pointer Options tab at the top of the Mouse Properties window. Under the Motion heading, drag the slider bar towards slow or fast until the desired speed is accomplished.
   
   


6. To change the speed at which the scroll wheel scrolls, click the Wheel tab at the top of the Mouse Properties window. Move the slider bar towards slow or fast until the desired scroll speed is selected.
   
   


7. To change how much distance a fast scroll will cover, click Advanced.
   
   


8. The Accelerated Scrolling window will appear. Move the slider bar towards slow or fast. This is useful to change how quickly a fast scroll will go through a large document or web page. Click OK when finished.
   
   


9. To change how quickly two left-clicks will be recognized as a double-click, select the Activities tab at the top of the Mouse Properties window. Move the slider bar towards slow or fast.
   
   
   
   
   • A slow double-click will allow for more time in between each click in order to be recognized as a double-click. A fast double-click will require little time in between clicks in order to be recognized as a double-click. To test the desired double-click speed, double-click on the folder in the Test Area . When the desired double-click speed is selected, click OK.

Tech Tip of the Day: How to turn on HTML5 for YouTube

Description: Have faster load times on YouTube with HTML5.

With Flash becoming outdated and no longer used by many websites, the newest form is what is called HTML5. Though HTML5 hasn't been officially used on all websites or released, YouTube has given the option to test it out via a trial version. By turning this on, you will notice faster load times with streaming YouTube videos and also a glimpse at what is to come in the near future.

1. First open a web browser and enter in the following address into the address bar at the top left of the browser: www.youtube.com/html5
   
   


2. This will be the page that will come up, as shown below it states that HTML5 is not yet turned on. There is a simple link at the bottom showing "Join the HTML5 Trial". Simply click the link.
   
   


3. The page will refresh and the link will be replaced with what's shown below. Now open a video on YouTube and enjoy HTML5!

Tech Tip of the Day: How to configure Windows 7 to log on automatically

Description: This article outlines the process of configuring Windows 7 to automatically log on to a user account on startup.

1. Left click on the Start Button.
2. Type "netplwiz" (without the quotes) into the Search programs and files Field.
   
   


3. Press the Enter Button on your keyboard.
4. Left click on the Check Box to the left of "Users must enter a user name and password to use this computer".
5. Left click on the OK Button.
   
   


6. Enter the information associated with the account to which you would like Windows to automatically log on into the "Automatically Log On" Window that appears.
7. Left click on the OK Button to complete the process.

Tech Tip of the Day: How to change Folder Options in Windows 7

Description: This article will detail how to view and change general folder options in Windows 7. This can be helpful to change how folders open, the manner in which they open, and how the navigation pane functions.

1. Click on the Start button in the bottom left corner of the screen.
2. Click on Control Panel.
   
   


3. In the upper right corner of the Control Panel window, click on the View By drop down menu and make sure that Large Icons or Small Icons is selected.
   
   


4. Click Folder Options. The Folder Options window will open with the General tab selected by default.
   
   


5. The "Browse folders" heading contains options to change how folders open in Windows Explorer. By default, this option is set to Open each folder in the same window. To change this setting so that when opening a new folder, it opens in a new window, click Open each folder in its own window. To continue making changes to folder options, proceed to the next steps. If done making changes, click OK.
   
   


6. The "Click items as follows" heading contains options to change how to open items in Windows Explorer. By default, Double-click to open an item (single-click to select) is selected. To change this setting so that a user will only need to click on an item once to open it, select Single-click to open an item (point to select). To continue making changes to folder options, proceed to the next steps. If done making changes, click OK.
   
   


7. The "Navigation pane" heading contains options to change how the Navigation pane operates when opening folders in Windows Explorer. There are two options under this heading: Show all folders and Automatically expand to current folder. By default, neither of these options are selected. To view the current user's personal folder in the Navigation pane, check the box next to Show all folders. To have the Navigation pane navigate to and expand the selected folder, check the box next to Automatically expand to current folder. When done making changes, click OK.
   
   


8. To revert the general folder options to their default settings, click on Restore Defaults. Click OK.

Tech Tip of the Day: How to automatically back up data with Windows backup

Description: Windows 7 has a great tool available to make backing up data a breeze.

1. Begin by going to the Start Menu » Control Panel
   
   


2. Make sure View By: is set to Small Icons.
   
   


3. Click Backup and Restore and plug in an external storage device.
4. Click Set up backup to begin the initial setup.
5. A list of available backup locations will appear. Backups can be either burned to a disc, or saved to an external storage device (i.e. external hard drive, flash drive, etc).
   
   


6. Select the destination for the backup, then click Next
7. It will now ask what info needs to be backed up. The quickest (and easiest) option, is Let Windows Choose. This selects the libraries, desktop and default Windows folders. Click Next.
   
   


8. If there is more than one user on the machine, it allows the backup of specified users only. To choose this, just select a user and click Save settings and run backup.
   
   


9. A scheduled backup can also be set at this screen. To schedule regular backups, click Change Schedule. This allows the user to choose how often, what day, and what time to do backups. When completed, click OK.
   
   


10. The backup will begin. Progress is determined by the green bar. Once completed, the external device is safe for removal. (If a scheduled backup is set, the device will need to be connected at the time specified to complete the backup.
