If you see new toolbars in your Internet Explorer that you haven't intentionally installed, if your browser crashes inexplicably, or if your home page has been "hijacked" (or changed without your knowledge), your computer is most probably infected with spyware. Even if you don't see the symptoms, your computer may be infected, because more and more spyware is emerging. Spybot-S&D is free, so there's no harm giving it a try to see if something has invaded your computer.¹
- Open you browser and go to the SpyBot home page
- Click on the download link in the upper right corner.
- When the page loads click download
- Select the mirror to download from
- Click on the download link
- Select ‘Run’ to start the download and install
- Select language and click OK
- Click on Next
- Accept the license agreement and click Next
- Select or change install location and click Next
- Select or deselect components and click Next
- Select start menu folder location and click Next
- Select Additional Tasks and click Next
- Click on Install to begin installation
- Select Finish when install is complete
- Click on Create Registry Backup
- When completed, click Next
- Select "Start Using The Program"
- Click on Immunize to immunize your browser.
- When Immunization scan is completed and unprotected lists zero, close program.
